Charles Wetherbee

Charles F. Wetherbee was born in Amarillo, Texas, where he was active in scouting, serving on the staff of the local Boy Scout Camp, and attaining the rank of Eagle Scout. After graduation from Amarillo High School in 1962, he attended Texas A&M University, where he lettered on the rifle team and was a Battalion Executive Officer in the Corps of Cadets. He graduated with a degree in History in 1966 and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Ordnance Corps. He then attended the University of Texas School of Law, graduating with a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree in 1969, before serving on active duty with the United States Army in Detroit, Michigan, and the Republic of Vietnam. He was awarded the Bronze Star and reassigned to the Army Reserve where he served until he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel.

Mr. Wetherbee has been in private law practice since 1971, in Austin, Jourdanton, and now Boerne. He was admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, and served as City Attorney of Jourdanton from 1978 to 2002.

His civic and religious service include member and past president of the Jourdanton Rotary Club and current member of the Boerne Sunrise Rotary Club, Lay Leader, San Antonio District, United Methodist Church, Member and Chairman, State Bar of Texas Grievance Committee. He served on the board of the Guadalupe County Battered Women’s Shelter and presently serves on the board of Hill Country CASA, Wetherbee is also on the board of the Kendall County Partnership for Parks and the Friends of the Old Number 9, a railroad heritage and history non-profit corporation.

He served as a member of the Atascosa County Appraisal District Board of Directors and has prior Texas State Agency service, both on the Dental Hygiene Advisory Committee and the State Board of Dental Examiners, serving one year as Board Secretary.

He is married to the former Bobbie Williamson and they have two grandchildren, Joe and Megan. His hobbies include gun smithing and target shooting, genealogy, and railroading.
